The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:
An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions. The Institute for Community Health Research - Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy participates in the conference of "Evidence for Better Lives" in Cambridge, United KingdomWithin the framework of the project "Evidence for Better Life", the Institute of Criminology - University of Cambridge - UK organized the workshop "Evidence for Better Lives" at the University of Cambridge - United Kingdom from 7 - 9/8/2017. Attending the workshop were delegates from West Indies University - Jamaica, University of Ghana - Ghana, University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch - South Africa, Babes-Bolyai University - Romania, Pakistan, Kelaniya University - Sri Lanka, University of the Philippines, the Imperial College and the University of Cambridge - United Kingdom, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Partnership, the Wellcome, the Young Lives and the delegation from the Institute of Community Health Research (ICHR) - Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam.
"Evidence for Better Life" (EBLS) is a cohort study in eight countries around the world, including Jamaica, Ghana, South Africa, Romania, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Vietnam. In each cities of these countries, about 1,500 children will be monitored during the development from the childhood. This study aims to explore the exposure of elements of violence, negative adolescent experiences and how families in different cultures support their children in the developing process. At each study site, the research team will introduce and evaluate multidisciplinary prevention programs to help children develop their learning and development potential in an optimal way.
This workshop discusses the feasibility and recommendation implications for research development, the introduction of partner universities as well as discusses the meaning of policy in research within the context of violence prevention aiming by the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Global Partnership in order to end the violence in children.
The delegation came from the ICHR, headed by Assoc. Prof. Vo Van Thang also gave an overview of the research location of the EBLS study in Hue as well as the feasibility of carrying out this study in Hue. Prof. Michael Dunne, co-director of the ICHR, presented the issue of developing research capacity in the EBLS and received much sympathy from participants in the workshop.
At the end of the conference, EBLS’s partners agreed on the possibility of the project and committed to support and participate in different project’s activities when having the deployment in their countries. Prof. Manuel Eisner – Director of the Institute of Criminology - University of Cambridge delivered the opening speech at the conference
