The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

The Forum on "Early Healthy Child Development"The Forum on "Early Healthy Child Development"
In the framework of the Hue Scientific Festival 2018 at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Institute for Community Health Research has carried a community health forum with the theme: "Healthy Early Child Development"on April 29, 2018. The forum has attracted the interest of the community as the parents of youngsters suffering from developmental disorders, parents concerned about the healthy development of children in order to create a bridge with the unit providing services health and special education. The forum also presented teachers of special education programs, technicians rehabilitation therapy for children with intellectual handicaps and developmental disorders such as autism, developmental language disorders. The forum program included the reports of the experts, who were specialists in rehabilitation, neurological paediatrics, psychiatry; the NGO advocacy for people with disabilities in general, and children's developmental disorders and their households in particular. The most important function of the forum was the roundtable discussion which offered policy recommendations on social protection, health insurance, educational assistance for children with autism disorders and other intellectual disabilities as well as answering questions from the audience.

The forum also had an exhibition and information desks of many units for children with handicaps such as the Office of Genetic Counselling for Disabled Children (OGCDC) - Hue UMP, the Speech Therapy Unit of Department of Rehabilitation, the Language Intervention and Autism Unit of Hue Central Hospital, and many centers for specialized education and early intervention of children with disabilities in Thua Thien Hue province.

Parents and community members had been advised, answered questions about the development of mental and physical wellness of children, especially in their first 5-year period. The experts made recommendations along the need of the collaboration between units providing diagnostic services, intervention, medical and special education for children with autistic children and other developmental disorders. Parents of the kids with autism disorder proposed establishing an association, which will be a support group for families of children with disabilities and autistic disorders.
