The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

Thua Thien Hue provincial Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute for Community Health Research of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, will host a scientific conference on Public Health.  (updating...)

QUT Public Health students’ International learning program 2018

From Sep 17th to Oct 5th 2018, the Institute for Community Health Research (ICHR) - Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HueUMP) – hosted the internship program for 8 undergraduate students majored in Public Health (PH) from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. The students workedin two groups; the first group focused on Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and the second one focused on Environmental Health (EH). The main purpose of this program was to enhance the understandings of the complexity, challenges, strengths and limitations of the health care services in Thua Thien Hue province. This international learning program for QUT students was supported by the Australia Government's New Colombo Plan program.

During the three working weeks, the QUT students  had opportunity to participate in  many activities, such as visiting and working with Faculty of Public Health, HueUMP, HueUMP hospital, Hue Central Hospital, attending seminars to learn about health care systemin Vietnam and discussed about core competencies of  Public Health curriculum in Vietnam and Australiawith students of public health of Hue UMP.  Apart from the above activities, the two groups also visitted Phu Ho and Thuy Van commune health centres in Thua Thien Hue province, had interviews with the heads of the two centres and observed the Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) carried out at these centres.The MCH group also had in depth interviews about MCH care and services with staff of Department of Pediatrics and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Hue UMP Hospital, visited HIPE Organization (Health Initiative through Peer Education) in Hue city and participated in children’s health education activities at the HIPE Organization. The EH group has visited Hue Water supply company to examine the water source handling in Hue city, visited Thua Thien Hue Center for Disease Control and Prevention and had in-depth interviews with staff of EH department and epidemiology department of the centre, visited Hospital infection control center and observed hospital waste management system of Hue Central hospital, visited the Centre for Climate change study in Central Vietnam (CCCSC), attended class on impact of climate change on health at Hue UMP.

At the end of the program, two groups of QUT students had oral presentations to share core findings and experiences of their studies to staff of ICHR and Faculty of public health, Hue UMP. The program has contributed to strengthen the international cooperation between Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Queensland University of Technology.
