The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

Planning Workshop for the development of Institute for Community Health Research

In the morning of 10/12, in the speech, Dr. Prof. Rector Cao Ngoc Thanh mentioned development stages of ICCCHR and reasons for the establishment of Institute for Community Health from ICCCHR and also emphasized the Institute’s role and importance in the university development. After this speech, it was the presentation of Prof. Michael Dunne who summarized the ICCCHR foundation and activities during three years 2011-2013. The activities were research activities, training-workshop, consulting, international activities and supporting community.
. In the new stage 2014-2016, the Institute will be established to expand ICCCHR action area beyond the university during three first years (2014-2016), the centre is ready to develop as an Institute.. With the current resources and technological, financial support from Atlantic Philanthropies (the USA) and Queensland University Of technology Australia .The Institute has an important role and it can solve the urgency to meet the demand of day-by-day increasing health care needs of society, the requirement of health branch improving quality of people health care and protection; it can strengthen the university development in scientific research and providing service for community.      Representatives 5 Health Department Provinces are presenting the health Problem model On the second of the workshop (11/12), participants continued discussing about the role of stakehoders and activities in the first year, determined specific duties of the Institute and selected provinces, co-operation mechanism, management and organization system, looking for local potential partners while conducting research, planning for specific research, counterpart research budget at localitites.  Group photo Closing the workshop, Rector Cao Ngoc Thanh pledged to support the establishment of the Institute and confirmed the slogan “Supporting stronger Community and University Connections”. This is a proof of inheritability and firm development from ICCCHR to the Institute.
