Workshop on the Activities Report in 2017
With the financial support, resources and techniques from Atlantic Philanthropies (USA), University of Technology, Queensland (Australia), the Institute of Community Health Research (ICHR) - Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy has been formed and growth since 2014. After nearly four years of operation, the ICHR always pursue the mission and objectives set out from the beginning of the establishment, which is to strengthen the connection between University and Community.

On 29.12.2017, the ICHR has organized a workshop summarizing activities in 2017 and built the operation direction in 2018 with the participation of Prof. Cao Ngoc Thanh (Rector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy), A/Prof. Nguyen Khoa Hung (Vice Rector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy), A/Prof. Vo Van Thang (Director of the Institute for Community Health Research), A/Prof. Doan Phuoc Thuoc (Deputy Director of the Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy), Representative of the MCNV Organization in Central Vietnam, Representative of Phu Vang District Health Center, Representative of Thu Duc District Hospital, Representative of Lam Dong Provincial General Hospital, Representatives of many Departments of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy; and all the members of the ICHR. On behalf of the ICHR, Dr. Doan Vuong Diem Khanh reported briefly summarizes the activities of the Institute in 2017, notably international cooperation projects as the project of "Strengthening the First Aid and Treatment of Snakebites in Thua Thien Hue Province” with the Bernhard Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine - Germany, the Evidence for Better Life project with the University of Cambridge - United Kingdom, the project with MCNV - a NGO of Netherlands - and Vrije University of Amsterdam on “Scaling-up nutrition-sensitive agricultural initiatives in poor mountainous areas in Viet Nam and Lao PDR from 2017 - 2020" and the collaborative research with Tokyo Medical and Dental University. This year, the Institute has also collaboratively organized a scientific conference on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of Thu Duc District Hospital, with 80 articles accepted to publish on Vietnam Journal of Medicine of Sep 2017; participated in many conferences and seminars such as the International Workshop on "Health Challenges in Sustainable Development Goals" in Khon Kaen – Thailand, the 9th International Conference on Public Health among GMS Countries in Myanmar, especially to attend the 10th International Asian Conference on Cancer Screening (IACCS) held in Taiwan and was admitted as a member of IACCS ... and more other activities. In recent years, the ICHR had 8 articles approved to publish in prestigious international magazines such as Psychology, Health & Medicine; Frontiers in Public Health; Child: Care, Health and Development Journal; British Medical Journal Open (BMJ Open); International Journal of Social Psychiatry; Journal of Medical Internet Research - JMIR Publications.

Following the success and experience of operations in 2017, the Board of Directors and members of the ICHR released a work plan for 2018 include continuing to implement activities in support of technical and financial for academic research from the provinces as well as Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, to build and deploy research, to develop relationship through cooperative research projects with international universities and institutes, to participate in national workshops and international scientific conference in English for young staff and the forum of "child health" in the framework of Hue Festival 2018, to open training courses focused on research methods, and to seek for funding and resources from potential international friends...

Ending the conference, on behalf of the University Board of Management, Prof. Cao Ngoc Thanh has once again affirmed the achievements that the ICHR has achieved in 2017, as outlined a number of points need to be overcome in order to perform better. The University is committed to support and believe in the success of the upcoming activities of the Institute with the mission to strengthen the connection growing stronger between University and Community.
