The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

Thua Thien Hue provincial Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute for Community Health Research of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, will host a scientific conference on Public Health.  (updating...)

Mission and vision

Vision
To become a leading institute in Vietnam and in the Southeast Asia region for community health research, technical support and consultation services to promote better community health. The primary strategy is to create and sustain stronger community-university connections.

 

Mission
The mission of the ICHR is to carry out high quality collaborative researches, providing technical consultation and promoting evidence-based practice in community healthcare.

Objectives

  1. Develop of a strong academic and health services network to ensure sustainability, including cooperation at local, national and international levels.
  2. Enhance the technical skills in research and evaluation of health staff of five intervention provinces in Central and Highlands areas of Vietnam.
  3. Conduct multidisciplinary research and promote Evidence-Based Practice in community health care
  4. Enable open access to health information through community-based and scientific forums
  5. Improve research ethics review procedures.

Activities

  • Developing a strong collaborative network between ICHR and national and international partners.
  • Providing technical workshops and training on research topics in response to the demands of the provincial partners and on Strategic Planning, Evidence-based Practice, Research Ethical Review.
  • Developing a service network for consultation and evaluation of community health research
  • Providing technical and financial supports for implementing research projects at HUMP and at five provinces in the Central and Highland area of Vietnam.
  • Undertake advanced large-scale research projects on public health mainly via postgraduate scholarships and external grants.
  • Strengthening evidence-based practice (EBP) in community healthcare for the provincial health service staff (by supporting for conducting evaluative researches on community health services).
  • Contribution to upgrade the editorial and peer review procedures in order to improve quality of the HUMP’s Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy.
  • Support active connection between the provincial researchers and HUMP’s Learning Resource Centre including provision of training on Advanced Information Retrieval Skills
  • Organizing annual scientific seminars and festivals in community.
  • Publishing and disseminating the research findings in national and international journals and scientific conferences
  • Develop and maintain an official website of the ICHR to enhance collaboration and information exchange among partners.
  • Host training workshops on “Achieving international standards for Institutional Review Boards (IRB)”. This will be open to the ICHR’s provincial network. After the training event there will be ongoing mentoring from experts in Viet Nam and Australia for the IRB members
  • Develop, introduce electronic information system and organize regular meetings of IRB and Research Ethics Committee of HUMP 

The Institute Structure and Staff           

The main office of the Institute is situated within Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, one of the leading medical universities in Vietnam. In 2014 there are 15 full-time and part-time staff, of whom 8 have PhD degrees.In addition, we have five provincial coordinators who are staff of Departments of Health in the provinces of Thua-Thien Hue, Danang, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak.
